Job Description

Our client has an immediate opening for a Manager, Operations. This position is responsible for ten teams of professionals: 24x7 production operations, 24x7 first and second level production support, desktop workstation support, help desk, edit desk, mailroom operations, print room operations, production application support, disaster recovery testing and data backups, and outsourced provider management.

This key position is responsible for the production environment and the physical facility in which it resides. This position has an operational budget that must be managed.

Duties Include
  • Leading and developing staff
  • Aligning departmental goals with the company strategic direction and achieving those goals
  • Working with the manager of technical services, manager of data services, and manager of control to execute defined support processes and maintaining standards for performance, change control, security, privacy, availability, and service level
  • This position is responsible for first and second level technical support for all production LAN, WAN, telecommunication, storage, z-Series server, Windows servers, storage area networks, and virtual infrastructure.
  • The manager of operations is responsible for delivering on the service level agreement provided by the manager of control and shall follow documented processes and procedures written by the technical services and data services teams.
  • The manager of operations maintains the ongoing relationship with all outsourced service providers, if any, and escalates support incidents with vendors and internal third-level support staff following documented processes.
  • The manager of operations works with the project management office on resource planning and implements production changes by following instructions provided by the manager of control.
Required Skills
  • 10+ years experience managing the 24x7x365 production operations of large scale enterprise systems in a heterogeneous IBM mainframe and Microsoft Windows Server operating environment is absolutely required.

  • 10+ years experience managing multiple 24x7x365 production support teams responsible for: IBM z/OS and z-Series servers, Microsoft servers with clustering, Microsoft web server hosting, Cisco LAN, WAN, and IDS/IPS equipment, storage area networks, telecommunications, and Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, and help desk is absolutely required.

  • 5+ years managing data center operations in a SAS 70, BS 7799, ISO 27001, ITIL, or telco-grade environment is absolutely required.

  • 5+ years managing an operational budget is absolutely required.

  • Demonstrated experience strictly adhering to documented operational standards and processes, testing of documented disaster recovery plans, and participation in technology audits as an auditee is absolutely required.

  • Demonstrated experience with at least five of the following: CMM, ITIL, CObIT, BS 7799, ISO 27001/20000, and SAS 70; Software Development Life Cycle methodologies, Six Sigma principles, statistical process control, project management methodologies, and Sarbanes Oxley section 404 is absolutely required.

    Educational background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent is absolutely required.

  • Masters Degree in Business, MIS, Computer Science or related field highly desired.

    Communication skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of organization.

  • Excellent presentation skills in one-on-one and small group situations to business partners, vendors and others.

  • Ability to convert technical information into the language of business.

  • Competency to work with diverse group of staff.
